BLITZ NAVY STATE FINALISTS
Congratulations to Blitz Navy, state runner-up for 2005.  Navy went 2-1-1 for the silver medal.  Bliz Red finished 4th in the state.  Congratulations to both squads.

Blitz Finalist at Brentwood Tournament

Blitz Navy beat a tough Brentwood Ambush team as well as a team from Lexington, Ky to make it to the finals against a excellent HFC 88 team.  Blitz lost to the HFC team in pool play and had to play the Ambush team who won their pool in a semi-final match.  The Ambush scored first after a corner kick.  Blitz matched the score from a cross by Rita Spellings to Elizabeth Ammarell for a strong finish.  This game went into 2 over times and then penalty kicks.  Ambush scored first and then Ashley Ryberg, Rita Spellings, and Samantha Goonan scored on the next 3 goal kicks taking a 3-2 lead with one more Ambush opportunity.  GK Kara Seat made her second diving save in the shootout to preserve the victory.   A great team effort enabled the Blitz Navy squad to show well in our club tournament.

4/10/05  NAVY DEFEATS AMBUSH
On a hot Sunday afternoon, Blitz Navy defeated the Brentwood Ambush 1-0 at Crockett Park.  In a battle of two U17 Brentwood Girls teams, Navy came out aggressive and controlled most of the match from the onset.  Ambush made a last effort near the end of the match but fell short.  The victory is the second win of the year against a Division 1 foe.  Navy defeated WSC Oklahoma in St. Louis last fall.

4/3/05  Blitz Red plays Tough in Murfreesboro
MCB-Red split their first two matches on Saturday and played for a second place trophy on Sunday.  In the first match, Blitz scored the winning goal with 15 seconds to play in defeating the Clarksville U18 Lady Royals.  Blitz stayed close to the Division 1 Brentwood Ambush before losing 1-0 in the second match.  Despite a good effort, Blitz fell short against the host Murfreesboro Strikers on Sunday to finish third in the tournament. Go Blitz!!

BLITZ GOT "GAME"!
MCB-Navy shows well in Miedo Bash
In their third straight tournament weekend, the Music City Blitz showed they can play straight up with the area's top teams.  Knoxville Diadora Impact was able to get some late goals to pull away from Blitz in game 1 for a 4-1 victory.  But the game was much closer than that.  The second game vs Louisville (KY) Javannon, the 2003 state champions was impressive.  Blitz came from behind to tie 2-2, with two second half goals.  After taking Thanksgiving week off, MCB-Navy will resume practice November 30 in preparation for their final match against Brentwood (TN) Ambush on December 12.
