ERIC VAUGHTER, Blitz
Premier Head Coach and Trainer
Eric Vaughter is regarded as one of the top Goalkeeper trainers in the United States. A two-time
All-South and All-American collegiate player, EV went on to play professionally for the New York Apollo in the American Soccer
League where he won his first National Championship and earned the first of his four National Championship "rings."
Vaughter
began his collegiate coaching career at Appalachian State University with Hank Steinbrecher in 1979. Since then he has coached
a long line of Goalkeepers at various programs such as Sangamon State University (IL), Duke University, High Point University,
North Carolina State University, UNC-Greensboro and UNC-Charlotte. Currently Eric is the Goalkeeper coach at Vanderbilt
University.
Eric's success with young GK's is continually shown by the increasing number of former NETperformance
Goalkeepers in all levels of professional soccer throughout the US.
EV served as Assistant Coach and GK Trainer for
back-to-back USISL and A-League National Champions-Greensboro Dynamo IFC. He currently trains GK's for both the Men and Women's
soccer programs at Vanderbilt University. As a coach, Eric has won three National Championships-Duke University (1986), and
twice with the Greensboro Dynamo (1993,1994).
In addition to his work with collegiate and pro level GK's, Eric has
served as GK Coach and Evaluator for North Carolina State Olympic Development Program as well as USYSA Region III Staff Coach.
In January of 2000, Vaughter was assigned to the US Soccer National Coaching Staff as a GK trainer. Each summer, Goalkeepers
from across the US come to live and train with EV in order to learn and improve their play and study the GK position (NETperformance
GK Training Camp).
EV is the Goalkeeping Director for the Adidas America ESP camps and the ASL
Collegiate summer program. In the summer of 2004, EV was selected as Director of Goalkeeping for US Club Soccers inaugural id2 Program which was held this
summer at North Carolina State University. id2 is US Club Soccer's version of nationwide identification of top
players for future US National Team duties beginning at the U-13 age group.
In the business world,
Eric is Product Line Manager for Adidas International Hardware specializing in shin guard and Goalkeeper equipment design.
EV resides in Brentwood, TN and is married to Marsha Edwards. They have two sons, Zachary and Devin.
